  • The most common reason for system screen replacement is usually do to impact from the top of the laptop. Due to the high cost $200 - $700 dollars most people simply buy another computer. While this CAN be prevented most people do not after all it can't happen to me right? WRONG! If you travel a lot with your laptop sooner or later it will happen unless steps are taken to prevent it from happening.

  •           Sad to say MOST MANUFACTURERS are NOT your Friends                    (why else would laptop screens cost so much more than complete desktop screens?)        I have also yet to see a laptop manufacturer that gives information about cooling and just how important it is. I am not surprised by this nor should you be HOT electronics do not last as long PERIOD END.

      

 

 

  1. Most manufacturers recommend buying a NEW laptop (Another hint)
  2. While laptop manufacturers advise laptops to be operated on a hard surface, many people do not realize the importance of this advice. After all it is a laptop right? WRONG many older notebooks drew free air from the sides or rear it is now common for fans to be placed on the bottom thereby blocking the air intake if used on a bed or couch is, These are NOT a hard surfaces. If you look at the bottom of a laptop you may very well find ventilation openings, and yes this is where the fans reside. By blocking these with you leg couch or bedspread. You are effectively choking you computers cooling system which WILL affect it's longevity. You would not put a pillow in front of your cars radiator So Please DO NOT block the free air flow of the notebook. and shorten the it's life.

While you are thinking about it here is a little game to play

  1. Take a minute to see how LCD screens are made and it will become apparent WHY I know they need protection <Click me>. In 25 years I have replaced and trashed hundreds of computers as an Authorized Toshiba repair center and unfortunately the travesty continues Don't let it happen to you. knowledge is power especially when it comes to preventing bad things from happening. I did not know is now no excuse.
  1.  Why are laptop screens so much more expensive than today's Complete LCD monitors? A 20" LCD can be purchased today for less than $200.00 so why is a 15" screen replacement around $300 Half the price of a NEW laptop. Well you are going to have to answer this yourself, (A hint) WHY do you think all  manufacturers keep the screen price artificially high? Maybe someone should ask them. I did but do not expect a straight answer Bottom line is if you break a screen you are toast.
  1. Alternatives to screen replacement include using an external monitor
  2. although this is a cheaper solution mobility suffers. The only other inexpensive solution is to use Braille software with a screen reader not practical for most but it does work.
  3. It is incredibly simple to prevent broken screens, the lcd (GLASS) is less than 1/4" from the top of the computer By using a LapKitty it will disperse any shock load over the entire area, preventing breakage while traveling in the first place.

THE REAL FACTS

I set out to end the madness of outrageously costly screen replacement. To this day most laptops are still made with poor protection from top side impact. If you have seen as many needlessly broken screens as I and understood how the manufacturers still make huge profits from this situation you would NEVER travel with your laptop without the added protection of a Lapkitty.

As an added bonus My design to Protect the screen from impact Also Provides Overheating protectionwith a flat or an inclined surface that cools better than laptop powered fan models.

Back in the early days of laptops heat was exhausted to the rear and sides Air intake was also from the rear or sides Now most laptops intake air from the BOTTOM. what you do not realize is that by doing so if a person actually sets this on his/her lap they are BLOCKING the AIR Intake, again manufacturers do not stress this enough so no one really realizes it until it is too late, Blocked intake causes a huge amount of heat build up put your laptop on a couch or bed and you have practically NO cooling at all, which will lead to premature failure and all sorts of problems.

Conspiracy ? I do not know but it sure is suspect to me if I wanted to sell more laptops
